“THE GOLD STANDARD” IN EARLY GASTROINTESTINAL CANCER SCREENING

According to global cancer statistics (GLOBOCAN) 2022, Vietnam reports nearly 17,000 new cases and over 8,450 deaths from colorectal cancer each year — an alarming figure that highlights the silent threat this disease poses to public health.

Even more concerning is the fact that most cases are detected at a late stage. Many individuals ignore warning signs such as abdominal pain or digestive disorders — or have never undergone a gastrointestinal endoscopy to assess their gut health.

Amid the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to neglect your own well-being. Yet a single timely endoscopy can be a turning point — enabling early detection of cancer, precancerous polyps, stomach ulcers, or other serious gastrointestinal conditions.

PROACTIVE GASTROINTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY – A SMALL DECISION, A BIG DIFFERENCE

Gastrointestinal endoscopy isn’t just for individuals with symptoms. Many serious conditions — including cancer — often show no clear signs in the early stages. That’s why regular endoscopic screening is one of the most effective ways to protect your internal health, enabling early detection and timely intervention.

Thanks to advances in modern medicine, today’s endoscopy techniques have been significantly improved. They are minimally invasive, painless, quick, and offer a far more comfortable experience — eliminating the hesitation often associated with the procedure in the past.

Beyond diagnosis, gastrointestinal endoscopy also allows for direct treatment of various conditions without the need for open surgery. Common conditions that can be effectively detected and treated through endoscopy include:

  • Polyps in the esophagus, stomach, or colon
  • Esophageal, gastric, or duodenal ulcers
  • Ulcerative colitis and proctitis
  • On-the-spot treatments during endoscopy such as polyp removal, foreign body extraction, bleeding control, dilation of strictures and management of colonic volvulus (colon torsion)
  • Early detection of gastrointestinal cancers such as esophageal, stomach, or colorectal cancer

Painless gastrointestinal endoscopy at Nam Sai Gon International General Hospital

Gastrointestinal endoscopy is a procedure that uses a flexible tube with a camera to examine the digestive organs, including the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, colon, and rectum. At Nam Sai Gon International General Hospital, we offer the following commonly used and painless endoscopy methods:

  • Esophagus & Stomach Endoscopy Package: Recommended for individuals experiencing epigastric pain, acid reflux, suspected ulcers, or those requiring cancer screening.
  • Stomach & Colon Endoscopy Package: Offers a comprehensive evaluation of the digestive tract, enabling early detection of ulcers, polyps, or gastrointestinal cancers.
  • Colon & Rectum Endoscopy Package: Ideal for individuals with irregular bowel movements, unexplained abdominal pain, blood in stool, suspected polyps, or requiring follow-up care. This method provides a full view of the colon and rectum and allows for on-the-spot interventions if necessary.
  • Capsule Endoscopy Package: Suitable for patients unable to undergo conventional endoscopy or needing an in-depth examination of the small intestine. A modern capsule camera records images for 8–12 hours, which are later analyzed by specialists for consultation and diagnosis.

Each endoscopic method at Nam Sai Gon International General Hospital is included in a structured and transparent medical package — ensuring safety, clarity, and reasonable costs, so you can easily choose the option that best suits your gastrointestinal health needs.
